An important part of Jerusalem is its many beautiful parks , which offer Israelis and tourists space to relax and enjoy the city . Jerusalemites love to stroll in their parks on Shabbat and holidays , especially in the spring , when the tulips are in bloom . Gan Hapa’amon , or Liberty Bell Park , honors the 1976 bicentennial—the two hundredth birthday—of the United States . It has a model of Philadelphia’s Liberty Bell . A roller-skating rink forms the center of the park , or gan , and there are lots of fun structures to climb , including Jerry , the large green dragon . Gan Havradim , near the Knesset and Supreme Court , is a garden filled with roses from around the world . Gan Sacher on Ben Tzvi Boulevard has a fitness track and a skating rink . And Gan San Simon is on the spot where one of the most dramatic battles of the Israeli War of Independence took place . The park has a bunker and a real tank , as well as a basketball court . But you can have the most fun in Kiryat Hayovel , for it has the Monster Sculpture . The Monster—it’s called Mifletzet in Hebrew—has three tongues coming out of its mouth . Each tongue is a slide ! The Liberty Bell in Philadelphia and the model in Jerusalem are inscribed with words from the Bible : "Proclaim liberty throughout the land unto all the inhabitants thereof" ( Leviticus 25 : 10 ) .
