Steps In Preparing the City Guide You will prepare a City Guide for an ideal city , working either with a partner or in a group . O With your partner , or in your group , decide on your city . 1 . Brainstorm cities that you find interesting . 2 . Narrow down the options to one city that you and your partner ( s ) consider suitable . The city you choose can be : ? an existing city — a city appearing in this booklet , or any city that you know about OR ? an imaginary city —a "fantasy city , " probably with features of existing cities Q Design your City Guide . 1 . Get ideas from real city guides . 2 . Using the section tasks as a basis , divide the guide into parts . 3 . Decide on the content of each part . Q Divide up tasks with your partner or within your group . Keep a record of the tasks to be done by each person . O Improve or expand on the completed section tasks so that they can become part of the City Guide . 1 . Review the completed section tasks done by each person . 2 . Decide how the completed products can be improved or expanded upon . 3 . Find additional information in the library or from the Internet . 4 . Make the required changes by adding new information or expanding on ideas . 5 . Check grammar and spelling and make corrections where necessary . Q Add elements to enrich each part of the City Guide and to make it "seem authentic . " Consider adding one or more of the following : different kinds of maps ( focusing on the city ' s geography , history , literature and culture , tourist sights ) photographs of the city and of important people related to the city's history diagrams and plans for new projects in the city graphs with information about the population quotes from residents interviewed about the quality of life in the city and / or about planned projects an accompanying audio-cassette or CD with the city's sounds and / or with excerpts from interviews with the city ' s residents O When all the work has been completed , put all the parts together . 1 . With your partner ( s ) , make sure that all the parts really make a whole ! 2 . Ask other students to look through your guide and give you their feedback . 3 . Make corrections and improvements based on the feedback from your peers .
