In the Present Perfect Progressive , we use have / has + been + verb + ing Sentences in the Present Perfect Progressive often include time expressions such as for ... years and since ... These time expressions are also used with the Present Perfect Simple . However , the simple tense emphasizes the achievement of the action , whereas the progressive tense emphasizes the activity . 1 On ^ 24 complete the following sentences with the correct form of the verb : Present ^ Perfect Simple or Present Perfect Progressive . a The tenants ( live ) in that neighborhood for years and they would find it very hard to move to another partof the city . $ The writer ( work ) on a book on urban planning since the beginning of last year .
