177 My Way, Teacher's Guide The Letter Ss Learning Objectives ❖ Students can write the letters of the alphabet in upper and lower case . ❖ Students can employ very simple principles of word order in short sentences . ❖ Students can recognize words they know in short, simple recordings . ❖ Students can use isolated words and basic expressions to give simple information . Important concept : If students notice and comment that there is an “s” at the end of the word “has” and yet it sounds different, you can explain that letters can sometimes have more than one different sound, and that for now we are focusing on only one sound for each letter . “Has” is a sight word they see in the Reading and Writing sections . Additional materials needed for this Lesson At the start of class : scissors, glue . Whole - Class Instruction : Digital Review Click on the Review tab . ● Students will see the last letter learned and hear the letter sound and the name of the ● pictured item . ( d → dolphin ) Call on a student to name a letter already learned ( highlighted in blue ) . ● Click on the letter to hear the audio . ● For each letter, ask students to name other words they remember that start with the ● same letter sound . Previously taught letters : D, E, C, P, G, T, N, A, B See Appendix A, Letters and Beginning Sounds, TG page 349 for a list of letters, sounds and keywords .
