39 My Way, Teacher's Guide Whole - Class Instruction : Digital Preview : Digital Flashcards Present the new vocabulary using digital flashcards . ● Have students repeat chorally after each word . ● Call on individual students to say the word . ● Repeat flashcard activity two or three times . ● Activity extension idea : Have students show items from their desks as they learn the new words . Learn : Instructional Comics Before playing the comics, ask students what they see on the screen and have them ● name as many colors and objects as possible . Play the comics . ● Have students raise their hands when they hear a new vocabulary word . ● Play the comics a second time . ● Stop and ask students questions to make sure they understand the story . ● For more information on using the instructional comics, see TG, Instructional Comics, page . 20 Talk and Say : Scene Ask : “What do you see in the picture ? ” ● Call on individual students to answer . ● Scaffolding options : ○ Name an item . ■ Name a color + item . ■ As students say an item, click on it . The audio will play . ● Have students chorally repeat what they hear . ● Call on individual students to practice . ● Ask students “Who has ____ ? ” or “Do you have ____ ? ” and have them show you the ● matching item . Note : This is a good place to use “show me” and ask for colors that are the same as or different from the example . Important concept : Point out that there is an “a” before the single nouns, and an “s” at the end of “black markers”, showing that it is plural .
