So Much to See by the Sea In the days before air travel , visitors to Israel would arrive by boat , docking in one of the coastal cities . Today , Israel’s cities on the sea are still busy places . The Tel Aviv-Jaffa area is the heart of Israeli culture and business . Caesarea is the site of one of the most extensive archaeological excavations in the Middle East . And Haifa is a center of technology , industry , and shipping . Of course , Israel’s seaside cities also offer great beaches and plenty of fun and excitement ! Although I like living in a modern city , I also like spending time with my grandmother , because she keeps many of the old customs . She is one of the last people in our area to make the thick quilts that keep us warm during cold winter nights . Also , while most people buy lebane , a traditional soft cheese , my grandmother still makes it by hand . She taught me to welcome guests by offering them tea with nana , or mint , and something sweet to eat .
