Section Task : Going to press Writing a feature article Write a feature article for an online news site or a print newspaper . Use the article on page 18 as a model and follow the structure presented on page 20 . 1 . Choose a suitable subject for a feature article , e . g . an interesting person , place , activity or discovery . 2 . Make up a suitable headline . The headline should grab the reader ' s attention and , although it presents the subject of the article , it should not " give away the story . " You may find it easier to make up the headline after writing the article . 3 . Write the lead paragraphof the article . It should introduce the subject and " push" the reader to continue reading . It should not " give away the story . " 4 . Write the bodyof the article . Present different sides to the story , give explanations and descriptions and quote different people interviewed . 5 . Write the ending , or conclusion , in the last paragraph , which may include your own opinion on the subject . 6 . Read over the article and make corrections . Use a dictionary or spell checker to correct spelling . Show your work to a partner and make corrections or improvements based on his or her feedback . 7 . Use the checklist below to make sure that your work is ready to submit to the teacher . Submit your final draft , with one or more early drafts . Your teacher will assess your work The following checklist shows what you should have in your completed task . ? The article has a catchy headline that encourages the reader to read the article and that gives an idea of the subject without " giving away the story . " ? The lead paragraph introduces the subject and encourages the reader to go on reading . The introduction may focus on a specific case to grab attention . ? The body of the article develops the story by providing explanations , descriptions and quoting people involved in the story . ? The ending , or conclusion , sums up the writer ' s main point and / or opinion . ? Spelling and grammar have been checked and mistakes have been corrected where necessary . If the article has been typed , a spell checker has been used . ? Corrections and improvements have been made based on feedback from a partner .
