Section Task : Carry Out Writing a narrative about a friendship experience The story "Lessons in Friendship" originally appeared in Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul , a collection of stories , anecdotes and poems for the teen reader . The publishers have asked teens to contribute stories for a future edition . Write a narrative about your own experience ( about 150-200 words ) on one of the topics below : ? Follow the suggestions on narrative writing in "Focus on Literature" on page 37 . 1 . Decide on the main theme or "lesson" to be gained from your experience . 2 . Focus on the main events that explain the theme . 3 . Use first-person narration . 4 . Organize the events in a clear sequence and use paragraphs to separate different ideas . 5 . Use direct and reported speech as needed . 6 . Use some of the new expressions you learned from the story . 7 . Review your draft with a partner and make changes and corrections as needed . 8 . Check your grammar and spelling . Use a dictionary or spell-checker if possible . Make final corrections . 9 . Submit your final version to a partner , together with your earlier draft ( s ) .
