2 Read the following script and find three parts that use facts from the letters and three parts that are imaginary . The Death of the Captain ANTONIO : I can ' t believe our dear captain is gone . MISSIONARY : ( turning towards Antonio ) Yes , I know . I went with him to the island . I thought I could speak to the natives . At first , they were friendly , but then they changed . MANUEL : ( stopping work and moving towards the missionary ) Please tell us what happened . DIEGO : ( also moving towards the missionary ) Nobody ever tells us anything . MISSIONARY : I do not know exactly what happened . We were divided into two groups and each group went in a different direction . I was not with the captain ' s group . ANTONIO : Just tell us what you do know . MISSIONARY : We arranged to meet at sundown , but the other group never arrived . By morning we were very worried . MIGUEL : We were also worried on the ship , because you were all supposed to return to the ship by midnight . ANTONIO : From our experiences on other islands , we know to expect danger . Luckily , our visits to the other islands have gone well . MISSIONARY : This time our luck changed . At around noon that day , one sailor from the captain ' s party finally arrived at the meeting place . He told us that there had been a fight and that the captain and the other men had been killed . DIEGO : What did you do ? MISSIONARY : We got off the island as quickly as possible and prayed for our lives . DIEGO : I am sorry that we have lost the captain . He was a good and brave man . Who will lead us on the voyage home ? ANTONIO : I do not know the answer to that , but I hope that the worst is behind us , and that we will soon be home . Putting It Together Choose one of the following activities . @ Thinkof movie actors you know and suggest actors who would fit the different roles . Compare your ideas with a partner and give reasons for your decision . & In groups of four , act out the above scene to the class .
