Reading and Writing Student Book ( Pages 128 - 129 ) Pg . 128, Exercise 1 : Read . Pre - Reading Activities : • o Introduce the meanings of the sight words : ‘do’ . Give examples of the word in context to help students understand the meaning . Invite students to say a sentence of their own . You can provide a word bank to help students create a sentence . Example : Ilike to do math / English / art . o Introduce the new reading words : baklava, bendir, towel o Have students name the items they see in the pictures . Reading Activities : • o Have students follow as you read the sentences or play the audio . o Read or play one sentence at a time and have the students repeat chorally . o Read the entire text chorally . Post - Reading Activities : • o Point to different characters and ask students to identify them, stating their family relations if they can ( brother, sister, grandmother, grandfather ) . o Ask questions to check for comprehension : Suggested reading comprehension questions : What do Omar and Fatima like to do ?
