: Let’s Review – Reading and Writing Student Book ( Pages 112 - 113 ) Pg . 112 , Exercise 1 : Read and mark . Pre - reading Activities : • o Introduce the new reading words : also, drink . o Have students look at the illustration and name items they know ( jeep, hen, hut, tree ) . o Have students read the title and guess what the story is about . Reading Activities : • o Have students follow as you read the sentences or play the audio . o Read or play one sentence at a time and have the students repeat chorally . o Read the entire text chorally . o Have students read the text in pairs for fluency practice . Post - reading Activities : • o Ask questions to check for comprehension . Invite students to answer the question or to read the sentence that answers the questions . o Suggested reading comprehension questions : Where does Makena live ? What is near the hut ? What animals does Makena have ? What do they eat ? What does Makena like to eat for lunch ? o Then, have students highlight the words containing the long ‘e’ sound .
