Reading and Writing Students work in their individual books . Below is a general outline of the activities found in each Unit . Student Book TIP * Repeat the names of the activities out loud to students as you work on them . Students * will not only be exposed to the words, they will also identify these words globally, recognizing them at a glance . Exercise 1 : Students read a text . Introduce the new sight word and reading words . Lead a discussion on any visual elements and have students guess what the text will be about . Read the text once with the students or play the audio version . Ask questions to check for comprehension . Have students take turns reading the sentences out loud and silently to themselves . Instruct students to look at the pictures, helping them read for comprehension . Exercise s 2 - 4 : Reading comprehension activities based on the text students just read . Reader : Each Reading and Writing lesson includes a reference to corresponding pages in the Reader, which provides enrichment o n themes and topics covered in the Student Book .
