278 My Way, Teacher's Guide There are lots of cars . There are a few buses . There is a bus stop . Reminder : Students should be encouraged to speak in complete sentences . Some may be ready to give a number + item and some the whole sentence . Some may be ready to add adjectives to the sentence . Lesson extension ideas : Have students call out items in the classroom using “there is” and “there are . ” . 1 For example : There is a door . There are five windows . Call students up to the front of the room in different numbers ( sometimes only one ) . 2 and have students say, “There is one student” or “There are XX students . ” Print a 3 x3 board with pictures of different modes of transportation ( see Appendix D, . 3 Printable Resources, TG pg . 372 ) . Have students ask friends about how they travel to and from school : “Do you go on a bus ? ” “Do you ride a bike ? ” “Do you ride in a car ? ” “Do you walk ? ” Have students mark off answers until they have three in a row .
