Individually, have students cut out the checkers from SB page 237 . ● Students need only one set of checkers to play this game . ○ Have students put their names on their checkers . ○ Have students play the game according to the instructions : ● Have students use one of their books to play the game . ○ Have students take turns saying the different verbs they see represented on ○ their “boards” on the page . Each time a student names a verb, they put a checker on top of that verb . ○ The first person to get four in a row / column / diagonal line wins . ○ Students can play multiple times . ○ Challenge exercise ideas : Students use a complete sentence of “I like / don’t like ( activity ) . ” . 1 Teach students, “your turn” as a way of moving the game forward . . 2 You can also teach them other expressions used during game play : nice job, you go, . 3 my turn, good game .
