25 My Way, Teacher's Guide in the Student Book . Have students point to the cat and explain to the students that the cat appears next to each new letter, to show size and proportion . Explain to the students that there are letters which start at the top ( cat’s head ) while ● others start in the middle ( cat’s neck ) . Some letters have a “tail” and extend below the line . Draw lines on the board like those in the Student Book . ● Show the students how to write the letters / B / and / b / using these lines . ● It is recommended to have all students continue practicing writing the new letter ( uppercase and lowercase ) in their notebooks after practice in their workbooks . Exercise 4 : This exercise focuses on identifying the letter sound at the beginning, middle, and / or end of words . Additional Letter Practice Pages Each letter has additional practice pages at the back of the Unit for students to complete independently . These generally do not contain audio activities . The practice page is an integral part of the Lesson, as it emphasizes phonemic awareness of the letter, strengthens the vocabulary - letter connection, and provides additional writing practice . The practice pages are meant to be part of the learning and not an optional activity . These should be completed following the Reading and Writing lessons, or immediately after learning the letter, before students begin reading stories and comprehension . Reading and Writing Learning how to read opens doors to knowledge, information, and enjoyment . Learning to read should be fun for students and My Way uses activities, texts, and interactive exercises to help students fall in love with learning and mastering this foundational skill . Practice Students work in their individual books . Below is a general outline of the activities and details found in each Unit . Student Book TIP * Repeat the names of the activities out loud to students as you work on them . Students * will not only be exposed to the words, they will also identify these words globally, recognizing them at a glance .
