24 My Way, Teacher's Guide Learn : The Letter Song This song introduces the letter’s sound and shape, words with the beginning sound, and a tongue twister sentence . Click on the link to play the Letter Song . Encourage students to write the letter in the air along with Buddy, as he writes it in the sand . Whole - class challenge : Use the letter sentence as a class tongue twister . Students can also illustrate the sentence as a visual reminder of the new words and sounds . Some suggested extension activities : Call out words to students . Have them show thumbs - up ( beginning ) , thumbs - down . 1 end ) , thumbs - sideways ( middle ) , or a fist ( no sound ) to show where in the word they ( hear the letter sound . Have students prepare a flashcard for each letter . Have them lay out at least three . 2 cards on their desks . Call out words and have students show the flashcard displaying the beginning sound of the word . Flashcards can be index cards cut in half or pieces of paper cut into even squares . Play the audio and have the students place the corresponding pictures in the marked spaces as directed by the audio . Exercise 2 : This exercise focuses on identifying the letter sound at the beginning, middle, or end of words . Exercise 3 : Students practice writing the letters . Demonstrate how to write the new letter on the board, with emphasis on the left - to - right and top - to - bottom directionality when writing in English .
