21 My Way, Teacher's Guide Dialogue with Characters : These are fun, interactive videos in which students repeat words and phrases that the characters say . Click on Play to watch the dialogue between the characters . When Buddy says, “Kids, now you ! ” students should repeat the word or phrase that he said . Note : Show students that there is a bouncing ball at the bottom of the screen to help them with timing and cadence of their repetition . Instructional Templates : These are vivid scenes or galleries of scenes / images which show all the new vocabulary words . Suggested questions are provided for each template . Version 1 : Audio plays when the mouse hovers over the vocabulary . Version 2 : There is a gallery of pictures to scroll through, highlighting each new word . Talk and Say Play the audio for the students with each new picture on screen . As a class, students should repeat the word, phrase, or sentence that they hear . Call on individual students to practice each word . Scene : A scene is shown . As the mouse hovers over each character or item, the audio names or describes that item . Gallery : Individual pictures are shown with audio for each one . What Is This ? : Students see part of a picture inside a magnifying glass . Have them guess the item before playing the audio . Whole - class challenge extension idea : In later units, before playing the audio, students can be challenged to name what they remember . For example : A gray horse is on the screen . Challenge students to recall the color prior to hearing the audio . Throughout the units, there are additional ideas for whole - class vocabulary instruction after the Talk and Say tab is completed . Play The games in Unit 1 provide a fun, interactive way for students to practice the new material . The games can be played on different levels, as detailed in the individual lessons . Thumbs - Up / Thumbs - Down This game has two versions . V1 : Click on the Play tab . Students will see a picture and hear a word naming the picture . Every student should show their own answers with a thumbs - up or thumbs - down . Scan the room to see their answers .
