20 My Way, Teacher's Guide Vocabulary Digital Platform The Digital Whole - Class Platform for each vocabulary lesson is organized in tabs : Preview, Learn, Talk & Say, Play ( only in Unit 1 ) . Preview : Digital Flashcards Present the new vocabulary using the digital flashcards, showing one word at a time . ● Play the audio for each word . ● Have the students repeat chorally as a class and individually . ● REMINDER ! : Students are not expected to read the written word . Challenge ideas for the printed word : Have students identify letters they have already learned . . 1 Have students identify the first letter and sound in each word . . 2 Students who are ready can copy the new words into their notebooks . Make sure to . 3 remind them of directionality . Some suggested extension activities : Show the pictures again and see if students can name the pictures prior to the audio . . 1 Have students close their eyes and scroll to a random picture . Have students open . 2 their eyes and name the item . Learn : Instructional Comics, Dialogue with Characters, or Instructional Template Play Instructional Comics or Dialogue with Characters, which present the new vocabulary words and language structures in context . Some of the lessons include instructional templates instead of comics or dialogue . Instructional Comics : The comics introduce the target vocabulary through a short story, similar to a stop motion movie . Play the Instructional Comics . At the start of the comics, ask questions about what students see on the screen . Pause the video periodically to ask students questions and confirm understanding . Play the comics more than once to have students hear the language structures again . During the second viewing, have the students raise their hands when they hear a familiar word .
