Have students move around the classroom asking and answering questions . ● Students should ask their friends : “Do you like to ( activity / verb ) ? ” ● The other student should then answer, “Yes, I do” or “No, I don’t . ” ● Students then write their friends’ names in their books and mark X or ● according to ✓ their friends’ answers . Scaffolding options : ○ Give the name of an activity . ( Example : swim / swimming ) ■ Give the name of an activity + place / description . ( Example : read a book ■ at home, read a good book . ) Say a complete sentence . ( Example : I like to swim in the swimming ■ pool . ) Note : It is important to walk around and make sure students are speaking to one another in English . It is easier for students to communicate in their L1 and they need gentle reminders to keep using English . Pg . 127, Exercise 5 : Talk . Have students work in pairs . Important concept : Students are now using the new structure “We like”, and not just “I like . ” It is important to point this out to them . Have the pairs look at their charts and find activities they both like . ● Have students use the sentence “We like to…” to share with one another . ● Note : Students can also find things they both do not like and use “We don’t like to… . ” Reminder : Encourage students to use as much vocabulary and language as possible . Exercise extension idea : Have students find things they like and don’t like in common .
