לשון Hebrew verb groups – categorising verbs in the present tense Verbs in Hebrew can be categorised into groups . Each verb group has its own characteristics , and verbs belonging to the same group share exactly the same structure and characteristics . The base form of the verb is the third person masculine singular . Here are several groups that you have met so far : Hebrew only has one past tense . can mean I ran , I was running , I had run and I had been running . רצתי The base form of the verb in the past tense in Hebrew is the third person masculine singular ( he ) . דוגמה : למד שר The past tense in Hebrew is formed by adding a pronoun suffix ( word ending ) to the base form of the verb . דוגמה : הוא למד - אני למדתי הוא שר - אנחנו שרנו With Hebrew verbs in the past tense we know which person did the action by the suffix . This means that we can drop the pronoun , except in the third person . דוגמה : ( אני ( אכלתיארוחת צהריים . הוא אכל ארוחת צהריים .
